Installing Python library in notebook

When i run the command (mentioned in the tutorial)

! pip install bloom-filter -t "/tmp" > /dev/null 2>&1

to install a python library in notebook i get the following error:

/bin/sh: 1: Syntax error: Bad fd number

I tried to run the command in Python 3.6 and 2.7. I also tried in Chrome and Firefox with the same error message.
