RIGHT() function resulting in syntax error

Anyone know how to resolve this syntax error?

Using the "RIGHT()" function seems to work fine on MODE supplied tutorial data, but whenever I use it on my data I get this error.

user_id is a string BTW.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hey Michael!

The availability of the RIGHT keyword, as well as other SQL keywords, varies between different SQL implementations.

Mode SQL School's data is stored in the Mode Public Warehouse, which uses a PostgreSQL database. PostgreSQL offers the RIGHT keyword, but it's possible the implementation you're using does not.

A Google or StackOverflow search for your database type, along with the keyword in question, can help you determine what keywords are supported by your connection's SQL implementation.
