Adding a chart from data not in the DB

Is there a way to add a custom chart to a dashboard using data that's not in the db? Specifically, I want to be able to manually add in survey results to a dashboard that's shared within the org.

  • Hi Dan Zhao - thanks for writing in and apologies for the delayed response.

Currently Mode dashboards can only contain data visualizations that are driven by data in one or more of the databases that are connected to your Mode organization. My suggestion would be to:

    1) Upload the survey results to one of your connected databases

    2) Explore using a combination of Google Sheets and a Google BigQuery instance to query the survey results in a Google Sheet. More info about that can be found at the link below. Note that this requires some configuration:

Hope that helps - please do reach out to our success team via in-product chat or success@modeanalytics.com if we can be of further assistance. Thanks!

  • Jonathan Krangel Cool, thanks Jonathan. Option 2 is quite an interesting method that we might explore. At the moment, I've decided to use Python notebooks and creating a custom chart to display this data. Mode charts look much better so I am still looking for a native solution so I will try out the BigQuery + Google Sheets connection.
