Bridge connections: database credential storage

Hi,

I'm evaluating mode and in particular am looking at better understanding the Bridge connector mode of operation.

Some questions

a) I see it connects over TCP 8444. Is this wrapped in TLS?

b) Where are the database credentials and connection configuration stored?

I don't see anything in the local bridge agent's configuration other than a token which I assume is what establishes the trust relationship w/ Mode.com and relationship to the owning account.

I assume mode.com persists the actual database configuration inside of Mode.com's infrastructure and then relays this information to the bridge upon startup (does the bridge cache this information?).

Why can't the database credentials and connection information be configured and stored exclusively on the Bridge host itself?
